Following the New York dream, Craig and Mark of VHS or Beta packed their roots from middle America to absorb the electronic osmosis of the big apple. Driven by the city’s hum, they became remix producers themselves; since 2008, the duo has put on significant remixes for artists like My Morning Jacket, Tegan and Sara, Hussle Club, and Juan MacLean’s 2008 stormer “Happy House.”
Not only are the two stargazing remixers, they also hold the musical knack of writing music and combining their talents as bassist and singer/guitarist. Their album “Diamonds & Death” juxtaposes jittery dance floor tracks with trippy excursions that land somewhere in between Pink Floyd and Italo-disco. Not afraid to show off the electronic timbres with their songwriting, they rampage stages with gleeful disco-house exuberance.
